Victrola XX Question

Post by redson68 »

So, I just acquired a 2nd XX from an estate sale, this one has a serial number of 8419. My first one has a serial number of 4599. Any idea why there is such a large gap? Only 525 were made, so ????

This may answer your question. The XX was not marked as such. Instead it was marked VTLA and therefore intermixed with production.

Nice find at a good price. I drove to and auction in Maine wasn't sure what was going to happen as no one was paying any attention to the XX that was there. But two phone bidders battled it out to over 10k. I could see from the web site where this XX was located.

I was shocked to see the final price for the XX on the auction site. I guess there are great deals out there if you can find them. Congratulations on obtaining a wonderful and rare machine.
