My New Old Columbia BI Sterling - Speed Issue

Post by Phonophan1 »

I just bought a beautiful Columbia BI Sterling and upon playing it noticed that my records sound pretty high pitched (Enrico Caruso sounds pre-pubescent). I am new to old disc graphophones, this being my very first, any insights on how to adjust? I suspect that this is a speed issue. Thanks so much and please excuse my newness to the scene and lack of knowledge (but I am excited to learn!).

Does your BI have the stop/start knob that passes through the front of the case? The outer part of the knob is the speed control: you turn it to regulate the governor.

Bill.
