Post by sdrefs »

Hi - anyone familiar with 'Rex' talking machines or have seen this particular one before? Maybe its a reproduction? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I found a bunch of Rex records in a salvage store a few years ago. They say only to use with sapphire needles, so I never tried playing any. I've also seen a few of their later inside horn machines on CL, all set up for vertical cut records.

Rex records are Pathé format--vertical cut, play with the same sapphire ball stylus.

Rex was formed out of the failed Keen-O-Phone company.

Reproducer seems to be a Columbia 'Concert Grand'. Does it swivel into position for playing vertical records?

A few years ago, I posted a thread about an internal horn Rex machine, that I bought. I can't locate it. Can someone find and post it?
