Question About A Fairy Lamp Phonograph

Post by Jerry B. »

I saw a Fairy Lamp machine that was highly polished copper and brass. Did they leave the factory with this type of finish or should it be wood grained?

Thanks Jerry

They were not polished from the factory and I personally don't like that look... Some were mahogany wood grained and I have seen a type of green oxidized looking original paint job. There may be more variations I am not aware of...

The pics below are of my Fairy, but the original finish was not good enough to save...

If you do find one that's polished and you want to change it, you can use copper sulfate mixed with water to turn the copper to an antique penny bronze look and gun bluing to oxidize the brass...
