I traveled with George Epple to a friend's house yesterday and asked him some questions and found that he has a Lumiere, Actuelle, and a Polly. He said in his opinion the ranking in order of quality of sound is in that order Lumiere best Polly poorest. I also found out that the outside perimeter of the diaphragms of the first two are attached to or restrained by the frame in the first two which should increase the natural frequencies (fundamentals and harmonics) of these two. George has been an active collector of phonographs since his teens.

I should have told all the Polly owners that the literature on Polly that pianolist posted has also been copied by him. I ask as maybe others did if I could bother him to have a copy made. the copy is excellent 9 by 14 inches folded to form the 9 by 7 inch four page reproduction of the original. I am very pleased with the results.
