Help Straightening Speed Control Arm

Post by adaytoolong »

Hello Everyone:

I’ve been working on restoring a VV-IX. The speed control arm is slightly bent (see photo) and was a challenge to remove. I tried bending it back with two sets of pliers, but it’s pretty solid. Will heating it with a torch help or will that damage it? Any other ideas? Thanks.

A vise would help. Secure the long end in the vise and you should be able to bend it easily. Make sure it is far enough down in the vise to secure the set screw hole, don't want it to bend there.

Or, just squeeze it in a vise to push it back straight.
