Do you have an Orthophonic that buzzes and blasts?
Or maybe a soundbox that scratches like cats?
A big Viva-Tonal that grunts, and shudders,
Maybe one with a diaphragm that’s been through the gutter?
I’ll take it apart and correct all the dents,
I’ll release the pressure and open the vents,
I’ll follow through and always do good,
CONTACT ME!
...if you haven’t, you probably should!
Repairs to Orthophonic and Viva-Tonal soundboxes, a specialty. I’ve been repairing the “impossible” for over 20 years.

This damn diaphragm
Reproducer still buzzes
Where's my screwdriver?
Adirondack life
Wow that snow sure gets damn deep
I miss mosquitos
Sure is quiet here
Idle hands, devil's workshop
Stir Crazy? What's that?
That greasy old spring
Uh oh, it slips from my grasp
Who needs ten fingers?
This damn diaphragm
Reproducer still buzzes

Re: ORTHOPHONIC & VIVA TONAL REPAIRS, BEFORE WINTER COMES!
Just got my orthophonic back from Wyatt, and I am very pleased. He re-magnetized the bearings, took out the slop, improved the flange, corrected for pot metal swelling and even troubleshooted a loose spider leg connection at the diaphragm.
I had this reproducer serviced previously, but the repairer never had the relentlessness to make it the best it could be. Bravo, Wyatt!

Re: ORTHOPHONIC & VIVA TONAL REPAIRS, BEFORE WINTER COMES!
I have been receiving so many inquiries, that i have made the following form letter:
Orthophonic Repair Estimate Guide
I REQUIRE A PHOTO OF THE FRONT AND A PHOTO OF THE BACK OF ANY ITEM CONSIDERED FOR REPAIR SO I CAN DO A VISUAL ASSESSMENT!
-REAR FLANGE SERVICE $45-$75
This involves removing the hardened rubber mounting flange without breaking the surrounding metal, removing old rubber residue from all parts, then installing a 2-part bonded mounting flange which retains the original brass mounting cuff.
-NEEDLE BAR PIVOT BEARINGS SERVICE $15-$50
This involves removing all hardened rubber damping material and replacing it with modern rubber that won’t harden. May include full replacement of all bearings if the original ones are corroded. On pot metal soundboxes the bearing races often become loose and fall out of alignment. In this case I remove the races, clean them, and then bond them into the correct position.
BECAUSE OF THE VARIABLES INVOLVED WITH WORKING ON POT METAL CASTINGS, AND THE GENERAL NEGLECT THESE SOUNDBOXES HAVE RECEIVED OVER THE DECADES, I CAN NOT QUOTE A RANGE OF PRICES BECAUSE EACH ONE IS ITS OWN UNIQUE CASE.
Diaphragm replacement, repair to spider, repair to needlebar, repair to brass / pot metal are all additional, and priced according to need.
