How to Adjust this style of soundbox

Post by old-bloke »

Hi
I'd like to know the correct way to adjust this style of sound box.
How much tension is put onto the two springs? Does the sound change with different tension?

Tighten the two screws up until the springs only just start to offer resistance. Any more than this and the needle bar will be unable to move freely, resulting in major damage to your records.

Look at the diaphragm from the side, in good light, to make sure the surface of the mica is flat... not concave or convex.
