Accent on Phonographs Show: September 8-9

Post by AudioAntique »

Mark your calendars for the Grayslake Ill, Accent on Phonographs show September 8-9th. This is a FREE venue to promote our hobby.

How about a phonograph show that is FREE to dealers to set up, sell, and promote the phonograph hobby at a large indoor, air-conditioned venue just 30 miles North of Chicago. The Grayslake Antique Market features its fall "Accent on Antique Phonographs" and it is free to all APS members to setup and sell on Saturday and Sunday, September 8 & 9th, 2018.

Records, phonographs, Nippers, books, technology and more will be on display and for sale by members of the Antique Phonograph Society and the Wisconsin Illinois Musical Antique Phonograph Society.

The guest speaker on September 8, at 1:00 will be John Hauger. The title of his presentation is "The Pan American Exposition of 1901: America Enters the 20th Century. A new century is well underway: William McKinley has been re-elected president with a brash, young vice president, Theodore Roosevelt, recent hero of the Spanish American War. Prosperity is everywhere. Puerto Rico, Guam and the Philippines now belong to the U.S. An Exhibition has opened in Buffalo, New York to display these new acquisitions, their products and culture. Tragic events at this Exposition will turn the tide of America's fortunes and enact many lasting reforms. John will have an outstanding display of records, memoriabilia, and phonographs from this era.

The Grayslake Antique Market held at Lake County Fairground, Grayslake, Ill 60030. Tim Zurko is a member of WIMAPS and is a promoter of antique shows in Wisconsin, Illinois and Michigan. At larger shows, Tim likes to feature specialty-collecting societies and enjoys promoting the phonograph hobby. This September weekend market promises to be a good time with good friends.

Zurko Promotions provide APS & WIMAPS members with FREE space to show and sell their phonograph items at this special show. Contact Robin Rolfs at: nipper@dataex.com for signing up for a free space at the “Accent on Phonographs” show before September 1, 2018.

The Gray's Lake Show is an awesome opportunity for APS members to sell their phono-related items at no cost to them. It is especially great for non-dealers who have items they wish to sell without the hassle of eBay and shipping. You can have as many tables as you need. The show is in a convenient location and is a great way to meet other phonograph collectors and other contacts. I have sold there for several years and have done well.
Come on out and support the show. You won't regret it.

Sounds like a wonderful weekend. If I was within striking distance I would jump in with both feet. I hope it is well supported and attended.

REMINDER: If you are in the area, stop in for a visit with dealers from Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. It's not the largest phonograph show, but sure to be interesting and fun. Maybe you'll surprise yourself and find a treasure. This weekend at the Lake Co. Fairgrounds, Grayslake, Il.
