Vic 1

Post by ts_13 »

I could not find a good reference to see when my vic 1 was made. Any quick references?

serial number 44708

And excuse my ignorance... But did most of them come with eight or ten inch platters? This one has an eight.

The early Victor I had an 8" turntable. Is this the small cased one? I'm sure it has a bullet brake. I think your machine came out around 1906-1908. The early larger case one had an 8" turntable, also. In 1909-1910, Victor came out with the 10" pressed steel turntable.

A good reference for this type of inquiry is the Victor Data Book. It is available here:

My great grandfather had that model and for a while I did as well, another member here probably still has it. It was dated under the turntable as 1904. It had an 8 inch table and usually wouldn't make it though a whole side of that.

You are exactly right! This one has a really small case, with bullet brake. I love how small it is.
