Hello!!
The Columbia Eagle vs the Columbia Eagle, BXP.
How can you tell them apart? Is it as simple as the tag on the machine or is there
another way? If both machines were left decades with no lid would they look alike?
Thank You!

BXPs were never marked as such. As explained in a recent article in The Antique Phonograph, the BXP nomenclature was used by Columbia after the production of the machines was stopped.
BXPs had nickel-plated governor balls, but beware of replacements on a regular B or BX.
The obvious difference is the mirror-like finish on a BXP. Even if left exposed indoors for decades, the difference should be discernible.

George...
I took a good look at my balls tonight and on some they are white and flaking apart and on my 2 Eagles one has
white flaking balls and another has solid black balls...
Who said phonograph collecting was dull!
