Edison Spring Motor phonograph.

Post by edisonplayer »

In the back room of the antique center in my town I saw an Edison Spring Motor phonograph. It was in rough shape. It lacked the enveloping cover, there was no crank, and it had a Model H reproducer.Would this be a nice restoration project,or is this a parts machine?edisonplayer

H Reproducer = not a big deal.

Missing crank = moderately difficult to obtain an original (reproduction easy... I think)

Missing lid = quite difficult to find. An original could / should turn up and most don't display their cylinder machines with lids on the machine. You have time to find one.

Depending on price I'd say go for it!

Depending on the price... What are they asking for it?

I'm not sure.Today in the back room I found the crank, also the accessory drawer, and a C reproducer and reproducer parts. There were cylinders with it that looked junky,2 minute and Blue Amberol. The owner has the horn. The machine must've been in a damp basement as I couldn't fit the drawer into the cabinet. It'd be a labor of love to restore that Spring Motor phonograph.edisonplayer

Brother, go for it! If I found a Spring Motor there'd be no decision making involved.

What are you waiting for? Buy it! Unless the price is absolutely ridiculous, of course. :D
