Now available are Aluminum and Brass Replacement sets that replace the notoriously bad pot metal parts in the Victor Victrola and Electrola 1927 Type 1 changer phonographs. The photo below shows all that’s included with a set.

It’s been a long road to get to this point but now they are ready for the public. To see the history of the details it took to make these parts beginning in May of this year, click the following link:

Sorry for duplicating this information, but I thought it important to get out there.

I’ve added the following descriptive photos to help in determining which style of machine you have and which style parts you might need.

Note: The Late style works with both style phonographs. Though the VE 10-50 model was manufactured in both of the two styles, I believe it is the only model that has the Early style parts (which uses pins/dowels for all its pivot points) and all VE 10-70 and VE 9-55 models use the Late style parts (uses bolts/nuts for all its pivot points).

I don't have one of the machines but I appreciate your effort to help save these historical machines. It's a treat to watch them operate. It's a labor of love.

Thanks, Jerry Blais

In the next day or so,, I will create and post: (1) The printed installation Instructions for this Replacement Set, (2) The video installation instructions for each part, and (3) The video operation of each part with explanation in photos and print.

Below is the video operation with explanation in photo and print for the Record Pad:

1 - At Rest: Note that the left two circles are around the 10” and 12” record catches on the Record Lifting Ring. The right most circle is around the full-dog set-screw that sticks out of the Record Pad and is resting on the notch on the gold lever attached to the Record Lifting Ring.

2 - Reject: As the Record Lifting Ring raises up, the Record Pad rises as well and is positioned to block the 10” and 12” record catches. This allows the record to slide off into the shoot of the Record Drawer and not be caught on the catches.

3- Retrieve: As the Record continues to raise, the Record Pad’s full-dog Set-screw slides up and off the notch on the gold lever, and allows the Record Pad to rock to a position that no long blocks the 10” and 12” catches. Now just after the Record Lifting Ring hits its highest point, it will be able to retrieve a record on the Magazine Stand on it’s appropriate 10” or 12” catch.

Below is the video operation with explanation in photo and print for the Collar Arm:

1 - Lift & Push Tone Arm to the Right: When the Reject button is pushed, the changer will go into the change record mode by engaging its gears and levers to lift the bottom of the post attached to the Collar Arm and to push that post to the right, so the Tone Arm is out of the way to allow the Record Lifting Ring to raise without obstruction.

2 - Pull Tone Arm to the Left: Once the Record Lifting Ring retrieves a record and lowers it on to the turn table, the changer will push the post attached to the Collar Arm to the left to line up with the beginning of the song.

3: - Lower Tone Arm to Play: Then the lever that was push up on the post now lowers and the music begins.

4 - Ride Teeth Until Elliptical Groove: As the song plays, the little arm attached to that post, rides along the teeth of the lever that is right above the lever that previously pushed the post up. Once the back and forth motion of the Elliptical Grove is felt at those teeth, the changer goes back into the change record mode and these steps 1 thru 4 repeat.

Below is the video operation with explanation in photos and print for the Magazine Stand and Record Lifting Ring:

1 - Record Ready: The record awaits in the angled Magazine Stand. When the Reject button is pushed, the record changing cycle begins first raising and moving the tonearm out of the way, then it raises the Record Ring. If there was a record on the turn table, it would be lifted by the Ring and slid through the Record Shoot and into the Record Drawer.

2 - Ring lifts record above catch points: The Record Ring continues up nearly vertical and pushes against the record in the Magazine Stand up and vertical with it. The bottom edge of the record is just above the 10” catches on the Ring.

3 - Ring lowers record onto catch points: Now just as the Record Ring begins to lower, the bottom edge of the record lowers down on to the 10” catches on the Ring.

4 - Ring lowers record to turn table: The Record Ring continues downward to lower the record on to the turn table and thus ends the record change mode and lets the record spin in play mode.
