I have been noticing several examples lately of gold plated, Brunswick Ultona tone arms with nickle plated Ultona reproducers. Is this proper? Were there no gold plated Ultona reproducers?

When I got my Brunswick, I thought the same thing. I believe they were shipped that way, I never saw one completely gold. A distinct Brunswick characteristic?

According to Brunswick Phonographs and Records, by RJ Wakeman, all Ultona reproducers were nickel plated, regardless of the plating on the tonearm:
