I was wondering what type of horn originally came with a columbia AT graphophone?, I've got it set up with a large 30" witches hat horn but that makes it tricky to store/display so might look for a smaller appropriate type horn

Here is the description from a very early Columbia catalog, near the 1898 AT introduction.

Here is the description from a turn of the century Columbia catalog:

Here is an early Columbia catalog with a horn and crane on an AT. This crane uses the small accessory foot sometimes found (without the crane) positioned in the back side of the bedplate:

What does the curvy crane attach to on the AT shown on page 31 of the old catalog?

Dear Kirtley'

According to Howard Hazelcorn in the Columbia Phonograph Companion, the AT was available with a variety of horns. Depending on which model you have,AT-1, AT-2 or AT-3, the horns supplied could be
14" brass,
18" brass,
24" brass or black and brass,
30" brass or black and brass,
36" brass or black and brass,
42" brass or black abd brass or
56" brass or black and brass.

So your 30" horn could have been the correct size for the machine.

All the best

Generally, the brass 14" horn would be a bit heavy for a pot metal carriage. The Columbia aluminum horn is far lighter, but is hard to find in decent condition. In the UK, however, the Pathé style aluminum horn would be period appropriate, and probably easier to find.
