Edison Concert Polyphone - contemporary photos

Post by TinfoilPhono »

This was a fun discovery -- scans of glass negative photographs taken in New Zealand ca. 1900 showing a Concert Polyphone in new condition.

I need to finish that time machine I've been working on.

Wow some great photos. The closest thing I suppose to a way back machine. They do bring you to another time and place. Thanks for posting. Neil

Fabulous photos. Makes you wonder what happened to that machine when it became obsolete a short time later. Jerry Blais

What wonderful images! Thanks for posting these, Rene - -

In the second image, it looks like a Bettini catalog propped up to the right of the machine.

I'm quite partial to a Concert Polyphone with 30" brass horns...but the angle of that floor crane gives me the jitters...! Oh well, I suppose the danger is long since over.

We need to replicate these photos with you and yours!

Rene can bring out his large format and collodion outfit. Wouldn't that be fun?

I'll do food. Seriously.

Best,
Fran

There you go, Rene - - the invitation is made. You'll love carrying your camera onboard a plane!

We'd need a better model than me. One with hair would be a good start.

Can we just skip to Fran's food???
