Neat Edison poster

Post by ts_13 »

Buddy of mine has this, but I am sure I will get it soon. It says 1899 models, but I cannot seem to find any info or others like it. Anyone else have one like this? any info?

Thanks as always.

It's even more interesting to see these old offers, (although the ones Ive seen have been a bit later) that say something like, "$15 down payment and $2 monthly with a final payment of $1.68 after two years.

I often think about that, would be nice to see the ad and be able to have walked in and bought a nice machine or even those records that we want. A new Columbia Q for 5.00 U.S. currency.

You might have missed the fine print, "from $8.50".

Yes, that is a Bettini Attachment on the Home.

I should point out that I've never seen an original of this particular poster, but plenty of reproductions. Some have U.S. dollar amounts, while others are in pounds/pence. I bought one of these posters from Tom Pollard back in the early 1970s. A few years later, it occurred to me that no Edison Phonograph ever originally sold for $8.50.

I am certain that this is a fantasy, concocted many decades ago by someone who had a feeling for prose of the period.

So you think its a Repro/not real? Thats ok if so thats why I posted it. I am not sure and have not been able to find another one like it, so that threw flags up in my mind.
