Triumph Model D - Mahogany???

Post by gemering »

I found an Edison Triumph Model D locally today.
I believe, based on the dark finish and nickle buttons on the front of the horizontal area of the case, that it might be a mahogany example.
Based on the attached photos can anyone confirm this for me?
I did find a mahogany standard in the wild quite a few years ago and it had the nickle buttons on the horizontal part of the case.
I know the finish is a little more fragile than oak.
Okay to clean with GoJo and paper towels?
0000 steel wool okay?

Thank you for any advice that is imparted.

Thank you,
Gene

Looks like a nice Triumph but it's oak. Still a good find. Jerry B.

Yes,
I just looked at the case in better light.
Definitely oak.

Gene I believe that’s oak also. Here are my Model-E and Model-F and both have the pins and both are oak.

Yes, you can clean any finish including the bed plate with Goop or GoJo.

Here is a picture of a mahogany Triumph that came up at an auction a couple of years ago. I never was able to get my card up as there were two phone bidders keeping the auctioneer busy. I believe it went for over $6K.
