was there ever an expiremental talking clock?

I think I remember something or hearing a very scratchy cylinder that was supposed to be the audio for a talking clock. somebody, please help me find out if this ever existed

You may be thinking of the Frank Lambert prototype. Hand-driven and recorded on a lead cylinder. Reportedly, two were made; the original in 1878 (Lambert claimed to have destroyed it) and a copy made in 1896.

There is the German Hiller Clock with a celluloid belt.
