Hello,

I just bought my second gramophone a Victrola VV1-90 from 1927. It sounds great compared to my other gramophone, a Standard A talking machine from 1909. The Orthophonic reproducer on the VV1-90 has some cracks on the pot metal back plate (see attached) and the gasket connecting the reproducer to the arm seems dry and a touch loose. My question is will it sound even better if I restore the reproducer? Or should I just leave it be? And if I should repair it where can I buy a new back plate? Any help is much appreciated!

Thanks!

-Travis

Yes, the reproducer will sound much better if restored, however, an orthophonic reproducer is much more difficult and complicated than a normal victor reproducer like a No. 2 or Exhibition. I would send it to Wyatt Marcus.
