Shameless, Unsolicited Plug

...which I tender with reluctance, because I'm worried that if I come on too strong, the subject of the plug will become so swamped with work he'll no longer be able to accommodate me, which would truly suck. So I'll keep it short. If you have a reproducer that needs to be repaired/rebuilt/whatever, and you would like the work to be done quickly/quietly/brilliantly, call Wyatt Markus. You will not be disappointed, I promise you.

And I would like to add, virtually every phonograph I've sent to him has been repaired promptly, professionally and at a very fair cost. Just today, within 15 minutes of FedEx delivery, he worked on a Victor II mech for me that had a mysterious noise. He had to virtually disassemble it down to the very last part, found the culprit, and it is already boxed back up and ready for re-delivery to me. He's a great asset to collectors and dealers alike.

He rebuilt a Victrola #4 and 2 HMV #4 reproducers for me recently and the sound is phenomenal. He is an absolute wizard! I have a brass Orthophonic boxed up will be in the mail to him Monday for a rebuild. No question first class guy all the way.

Does Markus also rebuild Electrola pickups as well?

If not, who does?

Thanks in advance.

Wayne,

I believe he does, try calling or texting Wyatt Marcus directly, he’s the best one to answer your question. His # is: 585-224-5453.

Just fyi, his first name is Wyatt. But he's probably as accustomed to being called by his last name as I am! :)

Was Wyatt Earp ever just called, Earp? In a strange irony, Earp’s common-law wife of 46 years was Josephine Marcus.

Coincidence? You be the judge.

For rebuilding services on electrola and other early electrical pickups, Chuck Azzalina is the guy. He has years of experience and can do it all, plus he has a test setup so he can play everything before sending it back to assure proper performance.

- remagnetizes the magnet
- replaces the rubber suspension bits
- aligns the moving parts
- checks and rebuilds/rewinds coil as needed
- bench tests

And whatever else is needed.

Prices are extremely reasonable, and he’s fast.

Highly recommended!

He’s “ChuckA” on this forum, or PM me for his contact info.

Since Chuck had offered me other technical assistance, I thought I give him a shot. I sent all 3 Electrola pickups to Chuck right before driving to Union and all 3 were fixed and waiting for me at the Post Office when I returned. Installed them into the three VE 9-55s and WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! Thanks Chuck and I appreciate others who PM’d me their offers of service. We all are very lucky to have such great people contributing their skills to this wonderful hobby.
