Holy smoke, George! I've never seen a bronze and tile Columbia before! What top-of-the-line model is that? :D

It's a built-in job, sort of like the Auditorium Orthophonic Victrola. The cabinet's roomy - - something like 4000 square feet, and in a Queen Anne style... ;)

Now that is very cool. Yes, thanks for sharing! One of those could almost distract me from my quest for another Europa...

I have to say that this is really a beautiful machine - the likes of which I have never seen before.

A work of art in my eyes. Different and really quite something.

A beautiful phonograph. I have one that is missing the hinges on the baffle. I am lookin for those hinges and I really appreciate the close-up photo. Again, a truly historic and beautiful machine.

Very cool and rare machine, indeed. I had mine for sale at Union (seen in a couple of Jerry's pictures of the show), but alas no takers.

Nice find!

I guess it would have been to some degree Columbia's answer to the XVII. It certainly shares some of the Pooley VTLA's endearing clunky characteristics. As with that machine, the deck sits three inches down in the cabinet. But more than either of those machines, it stands apart for the almost austere spareness of the design. It almost looks more European than American...and yet it was made right here in good old Connecticut. Also, it looks like the engineers eliminated almost every possible feature that could attract yet another lawsuit from Victor -- even corners!

I believe that you are actually referring to the Victrola XII, not the XVII. The second iteration of the ‘Elite’ sported corner columns.
