Dave, those two machines are really really nice. You're my new hero.

Re: Victor VI valuation
It does look like the finish may have gotten wet there or rubbed against something.dbwest wrote:So the Vic landed on my desk a couple of days ago. I haven't touched a thing yet, but my thoughts were to use a feather duster and perhaps a can of compressed air to dislodge the surface dust.
I noticed what may be a very old repair to the bottom edge. Or, perhaps where the machine had been rubbing against something?
Any suggestions on how to address this area?
But the first thing I would do is get some white non pumice GOJO to clean the wood case. Put it on and let it sit a few minutes than wipe it off with a soft cloth or paper towel. If you get a lot of dirt on your towel, repeat again. Don't let the GOJO set to long or repeat the process to many times. You only want to clean the finish not remove any of it. You can use the same process on the horn also just be gentle with the horn decal.
Only use cloth or paper towels. No steel wool or scuff pads or abrasive.
The more hardware you can remove the easier it will be to clean the case.
Congrats on getting this machine, its a keeper.
