Greetings all !
This is another machine our local historical society has, that I am trying to research for them.
A Columbia Symphony Grand Disc Graphophone, first version (?). The model housed in a scaled-down upright piano cabinet.
Am seeking any info on these machines.
I have the first edition of Baumbach & Lackey's Columbia Disc Phonograph Companion, but its listing is limited.
> Is the serial number placed on the machine, if so where should I look for it ?
> Any idea of production quantity ?
> When was this model discontinued ?
> Any idea who the cabinet makers were ?
> Survival rate and average market value on complete, unrestored machine ? ( fair to good condition, complete, all veneer tight, a few veneer chips on "keyboard cheeks", needs grille cloth, machine functions, but needs needs usual cleaning and adjustment. )
> Any other relevant info ?
Thanks for any input... I am volunteering my efforts for the historical society, a 503-C NFP, and have no designs on angling to acquire this machine.
PM's welcome !
Thank you !
Frank McMullen

Here is the patent drawing for it:
Usually on Columbia consoles the only serial number is the one on the mechanism near the tone arm support

( Bump ).
I've searched the TMF Forums, and found what threads mention the Symphony Grand...
Any more info out there ?
Any idea how many were made ?
When was the first version discontinued ?
Harvey ? George ?
Thanks...

I don't have any documentary evidence, but Bob Baumbach in The Columbia Phonograph Companion, Vol. II suggests the Symphony Grand was produced only in 1907 and 1908.
