Help With Brunswick Lid Support

Post by Marty Bufalini »

How the heck does the spring hook on to the one end of the mechanism? It seems the hook on the one end is crooked the wrong way. Pics of how it hooks would be nice. Thanks.

Is it an earlier Brunswick machine or a later Ortho-style type?

Rotate the part carrying the spring around 180 degrees.

Marty's Brunswick is not of the Panatrope/Orthophonic era. I've seen this in person and can't figure it out either. It appears that the lower hook is bent, however, there have been lid supports like this on eBay and they have the same odd bend in them. Just looks as if the hook is facing the wrong way to attach the spring to it, bent or not.

Provide more pictures. There's no context for the image you posted. If we could see more of the mechanism and its relationship to the rest of the parts, we might be able to figure it out.
