Re: HMV is this fake or real
The motor would appear to be original.
(Not "engine" )

That is the small Gramophone model motor, completely authentic. The only non-original things seem to me the horn and soundbox. The rest seems pretty authentic.

Re: HMV is this fake or real
I cleaned the moter and I did put some new grease into the spring.
I plays ok.
Its a bit noisey, but the noise is better now.
Do any of you know if this type of moter is more noisey then for example the portable grammophones like HMV 101 and 102
And also its seems like the playtime at some records is a bit to long for the machine.
Some is fine.
But some of the newer records from the 50s
Seems to have to long playtime?
And yes I know 50s records should be played on newer equipment.
And again thank you for all the answers it means a lot to me

If youβve put new grease into the spring barrel it may improve with some use otherwise the spring has gone a bit tired and may need replacing.
I have worked on a similar motor and they can sometimes be noisy. Certainly a lot noisier than a 101 or 102. There are 2 bearings that hold the governor in place. By loosening the 2 screws you can change the position of the governor a little and you may be able to make it run quieter. As well as this you may find that one or both bearings have an eccentric hole (that the governor fits into) and by turning these bearings you can change the distance the governor falls from its drive gear. You have to play around but you may be able to make the motor smoother and get longer play. Make sure these bearings are oiled. If the bearings are set too tight against the governor shafts this will slow the motor.
As stated this is likely the original motor, the machine has no redundant holes which is a good indication.

Re: HMV is this fake or real
This motor tends to be a bit noisy, that's normal. The motors in the 101 (motor no. 410 or the latter 59) or in the 102 (motor no. 270) are more modern and better designed, and all them are very silent, especially the latest no. 270.
Your motor is the older style with square teeth in the main gear and spindle, and the worms, a bit noisy. Later models had triangular style teeth and were softer. Anyway, as Jamie said, with five adjustments you should be able to find the sweet spot. But be patient...
The spring in your motor should play a complete 12" side if the record is soft and not too long, and it could be that it needs cleaning, or maybe the spring is tired and needs replacement.

Re: HMV is this fake or real
Thanks a lot guys
I just opened it all again and had the spring out of the Barrel.
To cleaned it and put some new grease in it once again.
I successfully made the Right adjustment for the speed.
And also made the noise from the moter a little better,
Now it's on ok level I think.
I am quite sure the Spring is a bit tired.
I want to Chance it when I'm able du find a new
Do any of you guys know where to buy them?
This one is 23 mm wide
I actually had 4 but none of them fit this machine
One is to wide and the three of them is to small
I really put some time in it
And it's so joyful to make it more beautiful or to do something about the moter and fix the stuff
And also just get to know new stuff
I have a picture from when I got this and a new one ass well I want to show you
If you find a soundbox that would fit this machine and the winding handle I would love to know
Kind regards Patrick

Re: HMV is this fake or real
Where are you based? Here, member soundgen in UK can sell you the spring, and maybe the crank too. The soundbox should be an Exhibition, maybe Exhibition Junior, I'm not sure. But don't suffer too much, the soundbox you're using now looks like a Saturn or somewhat similar, and it sure sounds very well.
