My first machine ... got it about a month ago for free ... springs would not wind.

Tore it down .. found the winding pin was sheared.

I cleaned everything and repacked the springs.

Last night I rebuilt the reproducer.

IT WORKS !!!!!!!!

Here it is on my FaceBook page:

There is nothing like playing your first rebuilt motor and reproducer for the first time. Congratulations! A warning though - this hobby is addictive! There is no such thing as only one machine... .

It is very exciting!

The motor seemed straight forward ... but the reproducer I was worried about!

Still not perfect ... my mica had de-laminiated.

I bought a spare and used it but I can see spots on it where it is coming apart.

But for 115 years old ... it sounds AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!

..... and yes, I am already thinking about a second machine

Congrats! I understand and share your excitement! Ah if I could have a machine like that... (I own others, though).
You're an expert, even using bamboo needles... these are my favourites, together with steel soft tone. Those I found give the best results.

Thanks! I actually just finished it today.

Still need a few little things (two #7 motor board screws, a working lock, leather for the brake) but I put it upstairs in the house and have begun to enjoy it.

I took hours of video and will edit together something in a few weeks (well my wife will edit together something).

Till then, here is a link to a short video I took with my phone today.
