I picked this machine up in Wayne on Sunday and I'll let the pictures speak for themselves, but this is untouched right down to the original turntable felt and apparently sat unused for decades judging by how bone dry the motor was. A total cleaning and rebuilding of the usual things are still in order, but this is how I like to find them and I've wanted an XVIII for as long as I can remember.

Re: New Addition to The Phono Family
That is such a beautiful Victrola, and glad to know it has a fine, appreciative home.
A friend locally, not a phonograph collector, wanted "just one" for his apartment, and after much searching, he found one of these from an area dealer. He had to plead with them to NOT re-finish the cabinet! It took a lot of convincing, they thought he was just trying to hammer their price down. But no---he's a stickler for fine, original condition everything. It still looks great in his living room.
Well done Sean!

It's going to clean up beautifully! Boy do I wish I could be one of those people who wanted "just one", although I think this warrants thinning out the collection yet again next spring. It's chaos at my house right now with all the construction going on and a new puppy to boot, who didn't manage to sneak into any of these pics.

Those XVIIIs are pretty. I sold mine years ago, and sometimes get a twinge of regret when I see untouched examples like yours. Mine was the same way...
Congratulations!

Very nice Sean. Lack of room keeps me from ever buying these nice uprights and consoles. I need to build an addition! Brian Keith

That machine looks great. It's also fun to see your other machines hiding in the background and the required stacks of records all over the room. Looks really familiar.
