Victor or HMV gramophone in Chaplin's "City Lights"

Post by dennman6 »

While watching the DVD of Chaplin's "City Lights"(1931) my attention perked up in this scene where Virginia Cherrill returns to her grandma's house & plays what looks to be a Victor or HMV talking machine. Can anyone identify this model? It looks to be an Exhibition soundbox she lowers onto the record. In other sightings, two nights ago during the TCM Doris Day film fest there was a Columbia Grafonola used in several scenes of "By the Light of the Silvery Moon"(1953), which also starred Leon Ames, Gordon MacCrae, Mary Wickes, Billy Grey, & Rosemary DeCamp.
