Not a child's phonograph, but one of the later attempts to re-design the acoustic phonograph, for the budget market. There's a short mention of it here -- http://www.capsnews.org/apn2007-6.htm

As noted, there was both a spring and an electric motor version.

They actually don't sound half bad --

I like these and currently have the (apparently) less common spring wound version. I believe they date from 1941-48. The cabinet is made from pressed fibres. It looks cheap at the price although it is missing its removable base board onto which the original model identification paper was glued. THese were sold exclusively through the Montgomery Ward chain.

Although my example is in very smart nick it did cost me around $300.
