Post by edisonplayer »

I have a Victor scroll label by Elder Solomon Lightfoot Michaux and his congregation dating from 1934.He was a black preacher who had a radio program on the CBS network in the 1930's.Is this a rare record?edisonplayer

I took the liberty of removing "in Music" from your subject line for the 100th time.

I found this record in the collection of my late friend Arthur Pare.I've never seen this before.I guess it must be a rare record dating from 1934.edisonplayer

It's certainly not common but it is an important recording.....if I remember right, it was either the first or one of the first recordings issued from a live radio broadcast.

In Kurt Nauck's latest auction list I saw a copy of this record on Bluebird. It looks like the Michaux record was issued on both Bluebird and Victor at the same time.edisonplayer
