Look Up And Smile ~ Nat Shilkret and the Victor Orchestra

Post by bart1927 »

I bought this record a couple of weeks ago. I was unfamiliar with the tune, but I liked it immediately. I hereby present for your entertainment and approval:

Nat Shilkret and the Victor Orchestra playing "Look Up And Smile" with a vocal refrain by Lewis James (I would have preferred Johnny Marvin, btw) on Victor 20456-A, recorded January 19, 1927 in New York.

Very nice!

I guess that the trombone and violin duet after the vocal is by Chuck Campbell and Lou Raderman. Shilkret speaks very highly of the latter in his autobiography.

Mostly to test the picture attachment function: here's a photo of Nat Shilkret that I've scanned from a piece of sheet music in my collection.
