Something of a classically flavoured popular song, sung here by operatic tenor Mario Chamlee. This is an acoustically recorded Brunswick, and a quite good recording. It is my understanding that lateral acoustic Brunswicks, like the later electrics, were recorded at about 78 rpm (despite the early sleeves stating 80 as the speed), thus I have transferred this at that speed. It's also the only gold version of this early Brunswick label I have.
Brunswick 15012-A, matrix 11477, recorded circa 28 September 1923.

That's a good representation of Chamlee's voice. He was a generally pleasing, if slightly "bland" tenor, IMO.
My Chamlee Brunswicks are all green label.
Chamlee was American born, and his real name was Archer Cholmondeley.

I see where 'Chamlee' came from. That surname Cholmondeley is English, and there sounds like 'chumley' in pronunciation.Wolfe wrote:Chamlee was American born, and his real name was Archer Cholmondeley.
Glad you liked the record. Thanks!
