i would wonder, judging by the sound quality (although the acoustic DDs of that period were pretty damn good), whether this was somehow recorded electrically, directly from the telephone transmitter? It would not have been very difficult to attach a receiver diaphragm directly to the recording head…

This is one those special records would be nice to have a Diamond Dis. Resin plastic reproduction DD made similar to the Edison DD Advertising record.
