I probably have more copies of "Yes we have no bananas" than any other old record. I can appreciate the fact that people were getting the "I have the 'Yes! we have no bananas' blues" by late '23 and early '24. The song was everywhere! The Jazz-O-Harmonists recorded a masterpiece of dance band music when they waxed this side. A few years ago Schmaltz uploaded this record on his site and commented that the vocalist was "mercifully uncredited"!

Rocky,
Is it me or does the vocalist sound like he's holding his nose (perhaps in disdain?).

The lousy vocal doesn't really detract from the superb solos. Obviously, Vernon Dalhart, Arthur Hall, George Ballard and all the others must not have been available to sing the refrain when this was recorded. But I'm sure that they held their noses in disdain when they heard the vocal.
