Interesting Blues article at NYT website

Post by Bob E. »

If you are interested in early blues history, there's a fascinating multimedia article at the New York Times website called "The Ballad of Geeshie and Elvie" that explores some of the arcana of pre-war 78 rpm blues records and their artists and producers, as well as the historians, ethnographers and fanatics who dig for every scrap of detail. It's a bit florid in places, but it's a good weekend morning read with a cup of coffee:

In interesting piece. I have a friend here, Harry Charles, now in his 90s, whose father was a talent scout for Paramount and have heard some of the stories.

2. Shortage of finance, however dire, will never prevent the acquisition of a desired object, however improbable its cost.
