Livin' in the Sunlight, Lovin' in the Moonlight

Post by beaumonde »

Here are some comparative versions of one of my favorite songs, including one surprise.

Paul Whiteman and His Orchestra (v. Bing Crosby) (Col 2171-D; LA, 3/22/30)

Maurice Chevalier (HMV B3517 [orig. Vic 22405]; NY, 4/4/30)

Bernie Cummins and His Hotel New Yorker Orchestra (Victor 22409-B; 4/16/30)

Tiny Tim(from the 1968 LP, God Bless Tiny Tim)

Adam, thanks for posting the comparative renditions. This is indeed a great song! Here's a rendition on Youtube recorded by the Bratislava Hot Serenaders about ten years ago. And yes, it is performed in vintage style.

Rocky, that was indeed a (surprisingly) great rendition of the song. I particularly liked the Westie, who seemed to be enjoying himself... :)
