The West Orange recordings were made with either of the 2 "giant" horns - first the 40' , later the 125'. The Bellini Ensemble's (a bunch of woodwinds, I think - with maybe a French horn thrown in .... ) Moonlight Sonata excerpt is quite "tubby" and loud enough to almost overwhelm a DD reproducer - the diamond really wants to jump out of the groove, in several spots..

Most Ernest L. Stevens piano & trio discs used the Giant horn, too - look for the 1500 and 8700 matrix series...
