I thought this subject might unearth some interesting pictures, so here is my first contribution, the great Spanish mezzo-soprano Conchita Supervia (1895-1936) behind the wheel of an early 1930's Armstrong Siddeley.

In 1931 Supervia married an Englishman and settled in London, so the choice of this quintessentially English car is a logical one. Her tragic death in 1936 occurred just a few hours after she had given birth to a stillborn child.

It is thought that Caruso never learned to drive, but this did not stop him clowning around for the camera. I think the car which he is pretending to start may be a Packard.

The British bandleader Geraldo (Gerald Bright 1904-1974) with his 1934 Humber Pullman. His Gaucho Tango Orchestra was then performing at London's Savoy Hotel, and by changing his style to move with the times Geraldo enjoyed a long and successful career.

Those are both electric cars and I believe both are Bakers. The top one is not a Locomobile.
