Thanks for providing those images, Curt. Otherwise no one would believe it!
On TV I have seen a movie clip of Baker dancing in the banana skirt. One recoils in disbelief!

Re: Stars and Cars
A classic auto only has to meet safety and emissions requirements for the year it was built, if you are registering it as an Antique car. You don't have to bring the vehicle up to current standards. Lots of people have right-hand-drive cars here in the USA.Henry wrote:I imagine that the cost of shipping it over would be prohibitive. Plus, trying to register it here might be problematic because of our stringent safety requirements and emissions inspections. And the driver's view out of the right side would put me at a disadvantage with all the reckless maniacs on our highways today. Oh well, in my dreams....

Well, that's good to know. Now it's full speed ahead to get the London cab over here! As soon as I come up with $48K....

Re: Stars and Cars
Caruso cranking with his right hand? Bad Enrico!
Cranking that way is a "no no", a kick back can break your wrist.
Pull up with the left hand and the kickback just pulls the crank out of your hand.
The engine starts and runs clockwise and the kickback is in the opposite direction.

The first is a '98 or '99 Baker, Edison's first car. The second is a 1908 Baker Stanhope.Curt A wrote:Jerry, I believe you... the top pic was titled as a Locomobile... (on the website that I stole it from)JerryVan wrote:Curt A wrote:Tom and his Locomobile and his touring car...
Those are both electric cars and I believe both are Bakers. The top one is not a Locomobile.

Al Jolson with a car which appears to have a customised front end. No doubt our American members will be able to identify it :
