Happy Mothers' Day to all!

Here's a classic that deserves to be played today:

Mother Machree (John McCormack, with Edwin Schneider, piano) VE 1293-A

Enjoy.

That is a very popular recording of McCormack's, very fitting for today, thanks for posting.

I've had his wonderful late HMV record of 'The Bard Of Armagh' (with Gerald Moore at the piano) sitting on the turntable, I think I'll post it in the next day or two.

Bob,

Thank you for posting this song; it’s a very fitting selection for today.

I’d been convinced that John and I had recorded this side for YouTube, but I was mistaken...we’d done Charles Harrison’s version:

I think that I prefer McCormack’s vocal, but prefer the orchestra backing Harrison to the solo piano on McCormack’s recording.

Thanks again for sharing this! :D

Wolfe,

Please do, I’m looking forward to it.
