Its D'lovely - Connie Haines AFRS live performance

Post by richardh »

Here is the opening segment of Command Performance Prog Number 178. It features Connine Haines singing a very nice version of "Its D'lovely". This girl was obviously going places :D

These 16" transcription disks give very nice sound as well.

Its D'lovely - Connie Haines (AFRS)

Here is some information I found about her on the internet

Great stuff! Thanks!

Is anybody besides me on this board old enough to remember the Groucho Marx "quiz show" on TV in the Golden Age (1950s), sponsored by DeSoto automobiles? They used Cole Porter's "It's Delovely," with new words, to plug the car. I can remember this much: "You can tell at a glance that this swell car is far in advance, You can hear that great big engine murmuring low---rarin' to go! So just be sure you see and drive the new DeSoto for fifty-five, It's delightful, it's delovely, it's delectable, it's delirious, it's delimit, it's deluxe, it's DESOTO!"

I thought these lyrics *were* the song until I played in the pit orchestra for "Anything Goes" and heard the real thing for the first time!
