Byron G. Harlan is my favorite singer of sentimental song in the 2-minute era.
He also recorded duets with Mr. Arthur Collins but his sentimental songs is the recordings of him that I like the best.

Thanks for posting the Byron G. Harlan songs, Paal. I would like to note that Harlan also recorded some of these songs for other labels, as was standard practice at that time. However, I prefer the crisp sound of the 2-minutes.

I think that your tastes in old music are very similar to mine. We seem to like the same stuff.

I love listening to 2-minutes cylinders, but I also love the smooth sound of BA's.

Yes, I also think we have very similar tastes in music. Both singers and dance bands.

Norman, there's no cruelty here. I like the song, and I wouldn't be surprised if Paal liked it too. And now for Irving Gillette's 2-minute rendition from 1906!

Yes I do like the song when Henry Burr sings it. And I could imagine Billy Murray & the American Quartet singing it.
But when Will Oakland sings it, I agree with Norman that it is cruel.
I'm not such a big Oakland fan...

LOL, I must admit it doesn't seem quite so bad with Burr singing it. Oaklands version always reminds me of a yelping dog for some reason

I've got a heap of 2 & 4 min wax cylinders recently that I'm planning on adding to youtube. I'll try to remember to add the howler to them
If nothing else, it might be interesting to see some of the comments left.

Sorry, Rocky, did not want to offend anyone. As you may know by now, I do have a problem with listening to Oakland recordings in general.
