Paul Whiteman - "Among My Souvenirs"

Post by Paal1994 »

This is THE BEST rendition of "Among My Souvenirs" I have heard.
Geniusly arranged by Paul Whiteman, it almost sound like a symphony.

Among My Souvenirs (Real Player file.)

Among My Souvenirs (Windows Media file.)

Enjoy!

Paal.

That's a wonderful version. I hope I pick up a copy someday.
I actually reminds me of the old Disney cartoons lol.

I have an Edison diamond disc rendition of "Among my souvenirs" that is very similar in style to the Whiteman recording. I suspect that one must have copied from the other.

This record is quite a clear example why some call Paul Whiteman's developed style symphonic jazz. Thanks for posting!

Shane,

You are right! When you say it it's very similar to a Disney cartoon.
But many of them have good music, especially in the opening credits.

Rocky,

I know of B.A. Rolfe's recording of the song but the tempo is MUCH faster.
Who is doing the one that resembles Whiteman's version?

Norman,

Paul Whiteman was a great band leader, wasn't he?

Paal,

I'm referring to the version of "Among my souvenirs" by the Edisonians on 52233-R.

Thanks for the info Rocky, I didn't knew The Edisonians recorded it.
Their records are very nice if you want some music you can relax to. I love their recording of "Just A Memory".
