Marcel Journet sings Delibes on Columbia in 1905.

Post by Viva-Tonal »

This is 'Stances' from LAKMÉ. Another record I got via a Nauction, Columbia A 545. Piano accompaniment. Matrix 3135-1; recorded circa March 1905.

Originally there were small stickers on the record's sides with 'recommended' playing speeds. I must give credit here to Earl Okin of the 78-L list, who graciously corrected the gross speed errors of the stickers!

The sticker for this side of the record said 67.5 rpm. This transfer was made at Earl's recommended speed, 74 rpm.

Viva~tonal,

Charming! Thank you for sharing it. It is a remarkably clear recording for '05.
