Edison DD 80286 - Holy City, Rock of Ages - $250???

Post by donniej »

There are currently two copies on ebay, one with one bid for $250 and another "buy it now" for $1,200?!??!?
I have two copies of this from lots I bought over the years but never thought twice about it. It doesn't seem very rare, so why are they priced so high?

(Uneducated) buyer optimism. A very common $2 record in my book.

Ditto--well maybe $5.

I think prices like that are driven by the legalization of marijuana ;)

Someone BID ON IT for $250?! What do they think they're buying? I would think anyone with the means to play a diamond disc knows this particular one isn't worth a fraction of that...

It is probably a shill bidder trying to stir up some interest...

The bidder who bid $250 is either a shill bidder, or a religious person who does not know the phonograph market, and thinks if it's a 100 years old it must be worth thousands!
