He'd be doing somersaults and back flips in his grave.  If he were still alive, I'm sure he would find a a way to put a stop to this.

The rot started with the invention of the electric guitar, which I have always considered to be an instrument of torture rather than a musical instrument.

Mmm. Les Paul (r.i.p.) would be interested in your opinion.

I'm not a fan of the saxophone, but then there's Paul Desmond and Coleman Hawkins (and Adrian Rollini as well).

While not necessarily for liking the music, I think Edison, always the inventor, would have appreciated these for the level of unnecessary Rube Goldberg ingenuity that goes into making an OK Go video. That being said, he might very well have watched them on silent.

I'm a fan. I love these guys.
Here is an earlier Japanese video of the similar ilk.

I'm 53 and I think OK Go rock!

Regardless of opinions, the music industry is driven by the tastes of teenagers - always has been and always will be

My comment is somewhat tongue in cheek, as I realize that throughout history music and art have been criticized based on previous performances, opinions and values. At one time, Mozart was considered to be too modern to be respected and Vincent Van Gogh was thought of as an inferior cartoonish painter.... (they caused him so much grief from the criticism, that he felt compelled to cut off his ear) ;)

I appreciate the GO videos on a creative level, but hope that automobile noises and random noise making never gets popular... it just seems to be one more step into an illogical reality...

The Beatles and Motown were considered to be over the top at one point, BUT it took a huge amount of talent to compose and arrange their songs which have now become classics in their own right... Also, consider ABBA and their talent, all of which involved musical instruments and vocal talent, not banging metal objects hanging from cars...

TAE might just have overlooked and accepted this new trend, since he was deaf anyway... But after listening to "The Old Oaken Bucket", I don't think so...
