That was a fascinating episode.

After watching the three primary episodes on TV, I looked forward to viewing the final "Sessions" episode where they had contemporary artists record various selections using the rebuilt Western Electric recording machine.

Unfortunately, I live in the San Francisco Bay area where four weeks of regularly scheduled public television programming is followed by a three to five week pledge drive. Instead of broadcasting the final American Epic episode, they showed some aged rockers on a stage croaking out stale old tunes, interrupted every 20 minutes by pleading and begging for more money. The station, KQED, is considered one of the worst PBS stations in the country, and loops the same programs every pledge drive. More than half of the annual programming is devoted to fundraising.

Fortunately, "Sessions" was posted online-- http://www.pbs.org/wnet/american-epic/v ... -sessions/ --along with all the other American Epic episodes-- http://www.pbs.org/wnet/american-epic/
