A Talented Young Brown wax Cylinder Historian

Post by edisonphonoworks »

On Facebook, I follow this fascinating young lady, Ramona Baker; she studies the artists and recording of the early brown wax days of sound recording, and really hunkers down on the artists, and playing methods, of the likes of Banta, Edward Issler, Russel Hunting, Hylands,Len Spencer, and many others in the early recording scene, really with an emphasis on The Columbia Phonograph Company. Check her blog out. http://theoldrecordgal.blogspot.com/ It is nice to see some happy positives in a hobby full of stiff shirts and curmudgeons (just kidding).

Wow, this is a really great blog site and it is so encouraging that someone younger than most of us takes this type of interest in the hobby. Good for her!

After extensively reading her blog, I find this girl amazing. Not only is she a scholar of brown wax cylinder ragtime piano research, but she is a ragtime piano prodigy, and she is only about 16 and still in high school. You should see some of her performance videos of ragtime piano.
