This collection came to me from a friend and mentor who recently passed away. In addition to his day job, he hosted jazz, blues, and swing radio programs locally (Portland, Ore) from the early 1980's - mid 1990's and used these records as source material. Many of the records contain hand written notes detailing when and where the record was purchased and for how much plus info about the artists on the record. Some of those notes date back to the early 1980s.

It is, indeed, a hell of a nice collection, but it's cost was very high....

Found a small group of 5 10" Blue Note records featuring Art Hodes from 1944-45. Good music!

Also discovered several early record sleeves with advertising, not unusual, but still pretty cool. One from Los Angeles has a fairly decent representation of an early Victor VTLA L-Door. Very cool!

I love the Harmony Sound Controller. I've never seen one of these in any collection. I wonder how many of them still exist.

Just found another group of records I've never seen before, Teddy Wilson School for Pianists. Apparently, some or all of these are alternate takes. More study...

^ I like the Okeh label, period. Good quality pressings with much interesting material.

I found a few nice LA and His Hot Seven Okeh's in a thrift store once. Was quite pleased with that. :) Never seen the Hot Five records "in the wild." West End Blues is a good title. For some reason not repressed in those "Hot Jazz Classics" albums of early LA that were produced by George Avakian.

Another splendid record, a 1935 blue shellac Columbia featuring Mills Blue Rhythm Band. Still about 20 boxes to go!

Just opened a box and found 11 Vogue picture records. Nothing real rare, but a very pleasant surprise.
